Many people feel that media coverage is becoming increasingly biased today. Why is this? What can be done to fix this problem?   There is a growing concern about modern mass media becoming increasingly biased nowadays. As a result, individuals suffer from the problem of distorted information and lack of trust in the news. This is due to the growing media commercialisation when profit becomes more important than objectivity. However, there are a number of measures that can be implemented to resolve the issue of biased news coverage. One of the most serious causes of media bias is their dependence of advertising income. Mass media because of this are worried about clicks, views and ratings, which leads to complex issues being simplified and emotionally loaded details being prioritised.  Nowadays, news companies spend a lot of money covering international news. However, local news is more relevant to people’s lives and should receive more funding. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Band 8 essay: In this day and age, mass media spend considerable amounts of money covering international current affairs. Having said that, local news plays a more pivotal role in individuals' lives and should, therefore, receive higher levels of funding. Personally, I entirely agree with this statement for two reasons. The core reason why I agree is that local news has a direct impact on people's daily lives. This is because information about local transport, weather warnings, school closures, crime incidents, and community events often affects individuals immediately and can shape their daily decisions.
